How To Make a Chick Brooder: (affiliate links below) And so far, raising baby chicks is far simpler than I imagined too. So with that little disclaimer, here’s how I put together our little chick brooder. It’s really pretty simple and not nearly as complicated as I once thought! I always envisioned a big construction project with wood and all that, but it’s far easier. But I’ve done a LOT of research ( my favorite blog is The Chicken Chick – she has AWESOME info and tips that would have taken me forever to figure out myself) and I’m confident we’ll give our little chicks the best home possible.

Let me just stop here to say that I’m a complete newbie when it comes to raising chickens. (What can I say? They had “plenty of extras” and when you already have 12, what’s 2 more?)

I managed to catch the chicken math bug early on (no surprise with me) and came home with 14 chicks instead of 12. I set up our simple little brooder for them (that’s what they call a heated chick home) and went to pick them up. Last Thursday, I got the phone call that our chicks had arrived. But at least it’s all good things pouring this time! Of course the kitchen remodel ramped up this past month so as they say, when it rains it pours. A couple months ago, we decided to jump in – we ordered a dozen chicks from our local feed store that were due to arrive around May 17th. My new kitchen (still in progress) is almost twice as big as the old one and it’s AWESOME.īut anyways, it’s spring and this is the time when you get baby chicks. As in, I didn’t even have a kitchen sink for a few days. Things are a little crazy at my house right now because Nate is completely remodeling my kitchen. Since we moved last summer to our new home with lots of land, we can finally start our own little homestead. Not just for the fresh eggs, but I want the whole experience. To start with, I had to chop it into pieces, then add it with masala and crush it with onion in a mixer grinder.I love animals and for the longest time, I’ve wanted to raise chickens. Like this one which was written as an answer to a question in SSLC on calculating the angles of a polygon: “On Sunday, I tried making chicken sambar at home. However, not all are threats or abuses some can get funny too. No student is supposed to write unparliamentarily words.” It was ensured that the answer script was considered as a ‘malpractice’ case.Ĭonfirming this, VTU registrar KG Shekarappa said: “The issue was taken up with a sub-committee. In one case of a VTU student using extremely abusive language in an answer sheet, the evaluator got so upset that he stopped evaluating the paper and conveyed the same to the superiors. The evaluators too are so fed up of such messages that they are now actually taking pictures and posting on social media sites – like the evaluator who took the picture of the ‘black magic’ answer in the SSLC Math exam answer sheet before posting it to the superiors. In fact, the trend has caught up to such an extent – even among engineering students – that the issue figured in the recently-held executive council meeting of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), the highest decision-making body of the institution.

She said they will be able to trace the student to take appropriate action.Īuthorities concerned are reporting an increasing trend of students writing such threats and even using written and unmentionable expletives aimed at the evaluators, hoping that this would unnerve the evaluators and help them pass the examinations. Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) director Yashoda Bopanna received the image of this via a WhatsApp image taken by the evaluator and has ordered a deputy director of public instructions to conduct an inquiry into it. If you fail me in exams, then I shall perform black magic on your family so that all of you die!” This is not a dialogue from a film, and nor is it funny! This, verbatim, is the ‘answer’ written as a threat to the evaluator by a 16-year-old student in Kannada to a question in the Mathematics paper at the recently conducted SSLC board examinations and it goes on to state that Maths being his only weakness if he does not pass in it he would be forced to hang himself. In one such case, SSLC board has ordered an inquiry to trace the student and take action Education authorities consider taking tough measures against the trend.
